Circled by the picturesque shores of the Mediterranean, the sun-kissed Catalan capital is a city with its finger firmly on the pulse. This book takes you to the heart of it all, to the newly renovated Edificio Estel – ‘The Star Building’ – a well-known local landmark, designed by renowned architect Francesc Mitjans (who also designed Camp Nou, Europe’s largest stadium and camping ground for FC Barcelona). We wrote about L’Eixample: the bold, people-filled district in the centre of the city, home to Estel Place and Gaudí’s fantastical façades. This meant scratching the surface to discover the Barcelona behind the oft-repeated tourist clichés… and wolfing down 2,000 years of Catalunya history. Happy times.
